November writing challenge day 7

Hey there, writing friends! I managed to put in my hour’s work tonight despite a couple of missteps.

First, because my son got a fever again, and stayed home from school, my routine was messed up and I forgot to take my anti-anxiety medication. This became a problem later this afternoon and early evening when I was trying to research and get back into working on my plane emergency scenes because I am afraid of flying, and I was getting a BIT too stressed out watching and hearing the airplane videos I was watching. See, my hero also is afraid of flying and so, my research to get into his head was a little to close to home today. LOL. That’s okay. I’ll take my meds tomorrow and hopefully I will be just fine. (Funnily enough it was the noise of the engines during takeoff that was really bothering me, and in real life, take off is a real trigger for me. But I digress!)

Also, did you know that you can listen to 10 hours worth of plane white noise to help you study or sleep? (I digress again!) Seriously. It’s a thing. I mean, my husband and I sleep with a fan, or I sleep to music, but planes?

So instead of provoking a full on anxiety attack I started working on my characters’ backgrounds again. I have things like character log lines and such built in to my character sheet, and this really helps me to narrow and focus what will happen in the plot. I believe I mentioned this before, possibly on day 1? or my intro blog about this challenge?

Anyway, I technically spent more than 60 minutes on this book today. Goodie! But still not on actual writing (word count)–which would have resulted in a NaNoWriMo fail.

I hope those of you who are doing NaNoWriMo on the other hand, crushed your words to smithereens today.

A week down, and I haven’t missed a day. Yay! Feeling good about that.

Happy writing, gang!
