Happy November 1 to all the folks out there who are doing NaNoWriMo or other writing challenges this month!
Today was the first day of my improvised 30/60 challenge and I am happy to report that I successfully was able to complete my full 60 minutes earlier this evening.
I sketched out two scenes in the intro section of the beginning, one from the heroine’s POV, and the other from the hero’s.
Whenever I got stuck I go back to the basics of scene and sequel laid out by Dwight V. Swain in his book, Techniques of the selling Writer .
That book is an oldie but a goodie. I highly recommend it.
The plan is to get all of the scenes of the book roughed in. Too messy to be called an outline, I like to refer to this phase as a pre-draft.
After it is mostly complete then I will start over and hopefully organize it into something resembling a real first draft.
I am curious to see how far along I get this month and whether or not I will get to the drafting phase.
I hope everyone else hit their goals today! See you tomorrow!
